There will be one (1) winner for each category with a prize. If you're in the Manila area, you can go to the terminals at Buendia (corner Taft).<br /><br />Tell the conductor to drop you off at <b>San Pablo Medical.</b><br /><br />Take the tricycle and tell them to drop you off at Sampalok Lake "Sa Hagdan". &nbsp;You can either tell them to drop you off "Sa Taas ng Hagdan" or "Sa Ibaba ng Hagdan". We had no experiences whatsoever in organizing an event.<br /><br />We literally just said one day, “let’s organize a festival about comics” and thus the first Festival was conceived.<br /><br />It was a lot of fun really but we had no idea what we were doing. The only thing that was really going for us at the time was sheer bullheadedness. If we say we were going to get it done, come hell or high water (barring acts of God), by golly we were going to get it done...or die laughing.<br /><br />Laughter definitely made organizing the first Festival easier.<br /><br />We lost money in the first Festival but it was never conceptualized as a money making activity. Even back then we called it "first", believing there would be a second. And now, 6 years later, here it is!<br /><br />But before anyone talks about this new Festival, let's take a look back at how incredibly fun the first one was.<br /><br /><a href="http://alanguilan.com/sanpablo/festival/pictures.html">The First San Pablo City Comics Festival Photo Gallery</a><br /><br />The first Festival was organized rather quickly. The Komikero Artists group were just hanging out as usual in one of our "last Sunday of the Month" meetings beside Sampalok Lake. I believe this was September 2003. Little did we know, the big house next to the park where we had our meeting belonged to a Mr. Mandy Mariño, who later saw my blog entry about our meeting.<br /><br />He then sent a message to me, with an idea to hold a comics event at the huge lot around his home next to the lake. The Komikero Artists Group did no such thing... organizing... and WORKING? Come on! We're just there to hang out and talk comics and movies and exchange green jokes. What did we know about doing stuff like that?<br /><br />But the idea for a comics event became tantalizing. We in the group decided to call it the San Pablo City Comics Art Festival where we would be primarily exhibiting comic book artwork from our group, and from old and new komiks. We would have contests, trivia games, and other cool stuff like that.<br /><br />For some insane reason, we decided to have the event that same December, just a little over two months later. INSANE. But we all pulled together and we managed to put together a fun and memorable festival for everyone.<br /><br />We had so much fun that we put off having another festival for the next six years! But we thought well, it's time for another one!<br /><br />And now we have one and a half months to organize the second one. INSANE. We could have had more time if ALL OF US didn't get sick after Komikon last October 18. What was that, the Komikon BUG? But yeah, I'm not worried. The Komikero guys are a talented bunch of guys who can face the pressure! We can do it!<br /><br />Watch this blog for more updates.
